Every day, UK workers travel to and from work, unknowingly spending their hard-earned money on work expenses. As a result, hundreds of millions of pounds in unclaimed tax money sits untouched in HMRC’s coffers every year. In fact, travel expenses alone are estimated to be worth £200 million unclaimed every year.
A PAYE tax refund is available to about one in every three UK workers. That money is yours, and you have a right to it. However, claiming tax expenses on your own can be difficult, time-consuming, and tedious.
That is why we have come. Our PAYE tax rebate experts will carefully and professionally examine your taxes. We are well-versed in all of the tricks that HMRC tries to keep the average UK worker in the dark about. We also use this information to claim back a lot more benefits than you might think.
We won’t charge you a penny if we look into your taxes and find you aren’t eligible for a PAYE tax return! We work on a strict “no refund, no fee” basis.

On average, our customers receive a £3000 PAYE tax refund. It takes only 5 minutes. We can check to see if you’re owed any money for free because of our “no refund, no fee” policy.
If you work in the United Kingdom, you are most likely subject to the government’s Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax scheme.
HMRC issues you with a tax code when you start working. This code is then used by your employer to determine how much additional tax you should pay on top of the money you receive for working.
HMRC deducts the tax from your pay and sends it to you. After that, most people don’t give their tax payments much thought. However, many people — including yourself — may have an incorrect tax code or may be owed a PAYE tax return on your expenses.
A UTR number is not required for most PAYE employees. However, some people do. Particularly if they have additional sources of income (such as rent). If you’d like to learn more about them — or if you need assistance identifying yours — we can assist you. For more information, see our dedicated UTR number page.
As a UK worker, you’re likely already enrolled in the Pay As You Earn system. If this is the case, you should expect to receive the following documents at some point during your employment:
At the end of each tax year, you should receive a p60 certificate from your employer. The purpose of this document is to show how much money you made and how much tax you paid during the previous tax year.
If you leave a PAYE job for any reason, you should receive a p45 document from your employer. They’re important to keep track of, and they’re especially useful when applying for a PAYE tax refund because they show how much tax you’ve paid over the course of the year.
If you are not employed under the PAYE system, you are most likely self-employed or employed under the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) tax plan. Visit our dedicated CIS Tax Return page for more information on the CIS tax system.

HMRC may discover on its own that it has overcharged or undercharged you in tax. You may be eligible for a tax refund without having to do anything in those situations. A HMRC p800 tax refund is what it’s called.
A p800 is a tax calculation form used by HMRC to determine whether you’ve paid the correct (or incorrect) amount of tax. If you’ve underpaid your taxes, they may take legal action to recover the money.
If you believe you paid too much tax and have not received a p800 tax refund, you can write to HMRC to get things straightened out. We can also follow up on this on your behalf. You may even be eligible for a p800 tax refund from previous tax years.
After the end of the tax year, p800 forms are usually sent out between June and October. Once you’ve received your tax p800 refund form, double-check that all of the information HMRC has on you is correct so that they can calculate your tax correctly.
If HMRC owes you money for a p800 tax return, they will usually send you a check within 60 days of the p800’s due date. However, you can get your money back faster by going to the HMRC website.
Even though receiving an automatic p800 tax refund sounds great, HMRC may still be underpaying you. That is to say, they could owe you even more money than you are owed. Because HMRC can only refund overpayments that they are aware of, this is the case. Many people spend their own hard-earned money unnecessarily on work expenses, among other things, without realising they are entitled to some of it back.
To get all of the money you’re owed, you’ll need to carefully examine your outgoings, research what you might be able to claim back, and then manually submit your claims to HMRC. Alternatively, one of our tax experts can do it for you quickly and easily. Our experts frequently pick up on details that our customers may have overlooked. Getting more money from them.
Self-filing your PAYE tax return can be time-consuming, tedious, and difficult. And because many people don’t really understand how to do it, the taxman still underpays them. Our PAYE specialists will not let you down. We’ll look over all of your tax records to see if there’s anything we can do to help you get the most out of your claim.
Remember, this is your money, which you have earned and are entitled to. When it could be in your pockets, don’t let it sit at HMRC.
Check out our mileage allowance relief and uniform tax rebate service pages for more information on some of the tax rebates you may be eligible for.
The amount of PAYE tax you pay is determined by your earnings and personal allowance. Each tax year, your personal allowance is the amount you can earn tax-free. The personal allowance is set at £12,500 for the tax year 2020-21. You can earn up to that amount before being taxed. However, not everyone is eligible for personal allowance.
The average payout time for tax refunds at Tommy's Tax is 7 to 10 days. The procedure, however, can take anywhere from 5 to 8 weeks. The large differences in time taken are due to a variety of factors. Whether you submitted your application online or by mail, and whether HMRC will conduct additional security checks on your refund.
Yes. If you paid for a medical procedure that isn't covered by the NHS, you may be able to claim tax relief on those costs. You can also get a tax refund on your general health and long-term care insurance premiums.
If you discover you haven't been paying enough tax and actually owe the government money, it's usually your employer's fault. In many cases, they may have used a different (wrong) tax code than the one provided by HMRC by mistake or accident.
